Outwardly, Kahana Bay looked magnificent this morning with it's pristine beach, wide sand beach, and shaded greenery for picnic table. But its dark secret is all of the plastic waste that float initially into the bay then wash up on shore. The plastic bits are clearly visible on shore. We spent the morning IN PERSON for a change, collecting the plastic bits and any other trash that washed ashore. In the end, a total of 92 pounds was collected which might not seem like a lot, but consider that much of it was tiny little pieces of plastic. Thank you to all of the officers and volunteers who showed up for our last project of the school year!
