LEADERSHIP: IT'S NOT ABOUT REWARDS; IT'S DOING WHAT IS RIGHT EVEN IF NO ONE ELSE ACKNOWLEDGES YOU!

2022 MOANALUA HIGH SCHOOL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE (above) The Moanalua High School Executive Council is made up of fifteen volunteers. VOLUNTEERS! While officers are elected, they choose to run knowing that if they win, there is no physical reward, no letter grade, no incentive other than the pure satisfaction of doing a good job and representing the student body. At times, we achieve great success while at other times, we achieve somewhat less, but it is always a learning process. While we can take away much satisfaction from doing a good job, we can also learn from mistakes and try to better ourselves the next time. And so, at the end of our terms, while we do not earn a credit, a letter grade or even a certificate of achievement proving our accomplishments, we can take away the self-satisfaction in knowing that we did our best for the students, school and community, and that positive experience is something we can really use as contributing adult members of society.

2/18: HOMECOMING PEP RALLY: FLOORSHOW, CHEER, SONG COMPETITIONS!

Homecoming events were held yesterday afternoon in the gym with participants only as well as a group of volunteers without whom it could not happen. A very special mahalo goes out first to the class advisors Tana Cambe, Neilson Ishida, Adam Kalma and Vanessa Schelgel. They are the ones who spent extra hours and held the practices with their students all the while having to make sure they were kept safe from the virus. Next, thank you to the chaperones Nicole Schorn, Aimee Sze, Bliss Mitchell and Ellie Stineman for providing security. Judges also played a key role so thanks also to new Councilmember Radiant Cordeiro, Randall Stewart, Sandra Nagakawa-Saito, and Cindy Shimoda. MC's Chris Pham and Easton Ikenaga kept things rolling smoothly and their efforts are appreciated. Mahalo to our administration team, custodial staff, Mene MAC and Na Hoku staffs for their support of the event. And of course, thank you to all the student participants for coming out and showing their spirit which was really difficult without 2000 cheering fellow students in the audience. You all made it happen! Let's hope we can have a more traditional homecoming this fall!

LET'S GET READY!
