Happy New Year! Once again, our first project of the new calendar year is the annual Ohana Day Festival sponsored by the Japanese Community Center of Hawaii (JCCH). This event is spread out at the JCCH building in Moiliili as well as across the street at Moiliili Field. Last year we battled poor weather but while this year it was nice and sunny, the sprinkler system was left on the night before turning the field into a muddy mess in the morning. Nevertheless, the crowds came and the festival was a success. Our task this year was to take surveys of people to find out why they liked (or disliked) the event and ways to improve. Of course, we also had some time to enjoy the festival itself. We'll probably be back next year....remember to turn off the sprinklers!
