Our November/December service project was held at the Institute for Human Services Women's Shelter in Kalihi. The task for the day was to sort clothing donations and place them onto racks by size and gender. There were mounds of donations and, while we were not able to sort every single item, we managed to do about two thirds of the amount. The eye-opening experience was the simple fact that there were dozens of homeless women and children who at first seemed unapproachable but as the day wore on we found them to be quite warm and friendly. It is unfortunate that people are in this situation, and we were happy to be able to do something for them.
Waivers in hand, we're READY to work! |
