OK, it's not like the place was going out of business or anything, but the folks who run Equine808, a horse rescue facility, simply needed volunteers to help clean and paint fences, so that's how many of us spent our Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. Equine808 is located out in the middle of Kunia farmlands and is not visible from Kunia Road, so getting there is a little tricky. Also, the facility has no running water except for a catchment system. Horses that would normally be euthanized after their "useful" lives are sent to Equine808 to live out their life and for some, provide rides for children's birthday parties. Also at the facility are donkeys, goats, chickens, turtles and, well, pretty much any animal that perhaps was once a pet but is no longer wanted. We've helped here before today and always have a lot of fun. A future visit may be in order!
