MOANALUA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT ACTIVITIES: "PUT OTHERS BEFORE YOURSELF!"

Back Row (l-r): Skyler Chun, SA Recording Secretary; Ryan Fielding, Junior Class President; Kayla Gurtiza, SCC Representative 1; Vivian Hui, SA Historian; Jazzmin White, Sophomore Class President; Jasmine Chee, SA Vice President; and Suzanne Tran, SA Clerk.

Front Row (l-r): Luke Schwab, HSSC Representative; Seolbin Hong, Freshman Class President; Kristen Yamate, SCC Representative 2; Maya Balmilero, Senior Class President; Shareen Chee, SA President; Emily Quach, SA Corresponding Secretary; and Jack Schwab, SA Treasurer.

The Moanalua High School Executive Council is made up of fourteen volunteers. VOLUNTEERS! While officers are elected, they choose to run knowing that if they win, there is no physical reward, no letter grade, no incentive other than the pure satisfaction of doing a good job and representing the student body. At times, we achieve great success while at other times, we achieve somewhat less, but it is always a learning process. While we can take away much satisfaction from doing a good job, we can also learn from mistakes and try to better ourselves the next time. And so, at the end of our terms, while we do not earn a credit, a letter grade or even a certificate of achievement proving our accomplishments, we can take away the self-satisfaction in knowing that we did our best for the students, school and community, and that positive experience is something we can really use as contributing adult members of society.

1/10: YOKOSOO AKITA CHUO!

Four science students and their teachers from Akita Chuo Senior High School visited to make a presentation on alternate forms of energy in Akita vs. Hawaii.  Part of the lesson was that they had to give the presentation in English.  They visited Ms. Tateyama's Japanese class where students actually had to try NOT to speak to them in Japanese.  An interesting question and answer session followed as well as a conversation exercise.  We hope that they achieved their goal!

My name is....

This is what we like in Akita!

Where IS Akita located?

SAYONARA!
