The annual SA Holiday Dinner took a slightly different twist this year. For many years, it was held at buffet places sch as Todai, Makino Chaya, and Camellia. This year, we went to Hughley's Southern Cuisine in Aiea for a nice sit-down dinner with all the traditional southern treats: mac and cheese, mash and gravy, fried okra, grits, wings, catfish, ribs, brisket, sweet tea...it was all there! Why the change? SA Exec Councils have predominantly been made up of Asians and, well, going to an Asian style buffet almost seemed redundant. So, this was something NEW! Of course, it did help that Senior Class President Kylah Hughley's family happens to own the restaurant, but it was all about trying a new experience! And, we were NOT disappointed! Not only was the food good, but many of us also had to get take out boxes because of the huge portions! Plus, we also had our traditional secret gift exchange which turned out to be a secret for some, while others posted hints....LITERAL hints on the whiteboard in the lounge. In any case, everyone was happy with their gift, and we all had a great time!
