LEADERSHIP: IT'S NOT ABOUT REWARDS; IT'S DOING WHAT IS RIGHT EVEN IF NO ONE ELSE ACKNOWLEDGES YOU!

2022 MOANALUA HIGH SCHOOL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE (above) The Moanalua High School Executive Council is made up of fifteen volunteers. VOLUNTEERS! While officers are elected, they choose to run knowing that if they win, there is no physical reward, no letter grade, no incentive other than the pure satisfaction of doing a good job and representing the student body. At times, we achieve great success while at other times, we achieve somewhat less, but it is always a learning process. While we can take away much satisfaction from doing a good job, we can also learn from mistakes and try to better ourselves the next time. And so, at the end of our terms, while we do not earn a credit, a letter grade or even a certificate of achievement proving our accomplishments, we can take away the self-satisfaction in knowing that we did our best for the students, school and community, and that positive experience is something we can really use as contributing adult members of society.

8/30: FALL PEP RALLY ALREADY?

Didn't the school year just end the other day and it's already time for the Fall Pep Rally?  Yes, time flies when you're having fun, and we must have had LOTS of fun because it's already time to recognize the fall sports athletes!  Air Riflery, Bowling, Cheerleading, Cross Country, JV Softball, Soft Tennis, and Girls' Volleyball were all featured by their team captains.  Football is also played in the fall but will be featured at the Homecoming Day Rally in September.  Good luck to all fall sports teams!

Opening ceremony!

It's not a pep rally without cheerleaders!

Fun and games close it out!

Monday

8/25: CDISC GETS I.M. TRAINED!

The Central District Intermediate School Council (CDISC) received their annual training in the Interactive Method by Moanalua High School officers.  The desired outcome was to come up with suggestions on activities to promote respect among students.  Some of the suggestions included showing positive PSA's on closed circuit bulletins, having a "Random Act of Kindness Day," and a sticky (Post-it) wall where students write good things about each other on a sticky note, and has it put up on a reserved wall.  These were all great suggestions, and we hope that each school will adopt at least one of the suggestions, including Moanalua High School!

Introductions!

We're alive, awake, alert, enthusiastic!

Students run an IM session!

And they're GOOD at it!

Thursday

8/17: OPEN HOUSE ALREADY?

Yup!  School has been in session for just 7 days, but it's Open House time already!  Open House is an evening set aside for parents to get to know their child's teacher as well as the curriculum for each particular class.  As always, the student government and class officers as well as other student volunteers give up their evening to assist parents in finding the right classrooms.  Turn out was a little less than usual because of a conflict with marching band practice, but it was still a good turn out overall!  Thank you to all volunteers!

THE VOLUNTEERS!
(Those who came on time, anyway!)

So it's THAT way?

Someone please ASK US!

I can help you guys!

Is this Period 3 yet?

We know the way!

Friday

8/11: GO, GO MENE RANGERS!

Power Rangers, MENE style!  That's right!  This year's Welcome Back Assembly was a take off on the still popular Power Rangers but of course, we did it OUR way!  The usual red, green, blue, yellow and pink rangers get ready for their first day at Mene Grove High School but along the way, they meet a bunch of other students who will play a big part in what they do for the next four years.  They even encounter Rita, who challenges them to a fight!  Thankfully, Mr. Lum steps in!  Hope you all have a great school year!

Where's that music coming from?

What're you doing here, DORKdonnn?
(Zordon)

Stand off with Rita!

Let's beautify the campus!

S.A. Officers do their thing!

8/10: WELCOME BACK REHEARSAL SACRIFICE!

It's the last week of summer, time to hit the beach one last time, wander the mall one last time, and just "veg" on last time without worrying about homework and projects!  But, there's one special group of student who gave all of that up to come to school early and rehearse for the Welcome Back Assembly!  It wasn't just officers.  This group includes committee chairs, class officers, and their talented friends, all of whom contribute to make sure the assembly skit is a success!  Thank you to all who sacrificed their time!

Practicing with the mirrors!

This is a difficult dance!

8/9: WELCOME FRESHMEN!

First day of school for freshmen!  We all remember that, right?  So, as the new Class of 2021 came for orientation, we surely understood their dazed looks and confusion in finding buildings and rooms!  Hopefully, our orientation program helped ease that situation and made them feel more comfortable by the end of the day!  Welcome, Class of 2021!

Campus tour time!
Gooooood morning!
Ask Maya!

Jennifer points the way!

So does Grace!

7/31: BACK TO SCHOOL TIME!

That's right, it's almost time for school again, and one of the traditional activities the Executive Council does is split up the student planners by homeroom teacher, and collate opening day packets for all teachers and staff.  It only takes a couple of hours, but they are necessary tasks in order for teachers to start off the school year right!

Let's unload these planners!

What comes after "L?"

Do we have this many teachers?
