LEADERSHIP: IT'S NOT ABOUT REWARDS; IT'S DOING WHAT IS RIGHT EVEN IF NO ONE ELSE ACKNOWLEDGES YOU!

2022 MOANALUA HIGH SCHOOL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE (above) The Moanalua High School Executive Council is made up of fifteen volunteers. VOLUNTEERS! While officers are elected, they choose to run knowing that if they win, there is no physical reward, no letter grade, no incentive other than the pure satisfaction of doing a good job and representing the student body. At times, we achieve great success while at other times, we achieve somewhat less, but it is always a learning process. While we can take away much satisfaction from doing a good job, we can also learn from mistakes and try to better ourselves the next time. And so, at the end of our terms, while we do not earn a credit, a letter grade or even a certificate of achievement proving our accomplishments, we can take away the self-satisfaction in knowing that we did our best for the students, school and community, and that positive experience is something we can really use as contributing adult members of society.

11/15: MENE STARS SHINE BRIGHT!

That's right!  It was time once again for the Mene Stars TALENT Show where the emphasis was on TALENT!  It was a truly tough decision for the judges to come up with a winner in this year's competition where each and every act could have been a winner.  With six singing acts and two dance performances, this year's field was loaded.  But in the end, the judges came together and selected Aliyah Bell as the second place winner, and Raena Papin taking first place!  Congratulations to Raena, Aliyah and ALL the performers in today's show!

11/11: CAMPUS BEAUTIFICATION 170 STRONG!

Our annual Campus Beautification Day brought out exactly 170 student volunteers plus a dozen advisors, the entire administrative team and a custodian.  Tasks ranged from gum scraping and recycle bin cleaning to repainting "No Loitering" stripes and classroom cleaning.  Most of the work was completed in the 2 hour time frame from 8:00-10:00 a.m.  We hope that our efforts made a difference and that the rest of the student body will appreciate the effort on Monday!

11/8: HIFF HELP!

Our September service project came a little late this year because of weather cancellations, so our replacement project was helping out at the Hawaii International Film Festival (HIFF).  There, we helped at the reception tables as well as at the theaters themselves.  We didn't get to see any of the films, but we did get vouchers to come back at a later date as well as a cool souvenir t-shirt.  Because it was a six-hour shift, we split up the group with each taking three hours.  It was an interesting way to spend our Election Day!

First group receives instructions!

And MORE instructions!

Jennifer and Victoria arrive for shift 2!

Then shift 2 learns how it's done!

We didn't get to see any films,
but we still had some fun!
