LEADERSHIP: IT'S NOT ABOUT REWARDS; IT'S DOING WHAT IS RIGHT EVEN IF NO ONE ELSE ACKNOWLEDGES YOU!

2022 MOANALUA HIGH SCHOOL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE (above) The Moanalua High School Executive Council is made up of fifteen volunteers. VOLUNTEERS! While officers are elected, they choose to run knowing that if they win, there is no physical reward, no letter grade, no incentive other than the pure satisfaction of doing a good job and representing the student body. At times, we achieve great success while at other times, we achieve somewhat less, but it is always a learning process. While we can take away much satisfaction from doing a good job, we can also learn from mistakes and try to better ourselves the next time. And so, at the end of our terms, while we do not earn a credit, a letter grade or even a certificate of achievement proving our accomplishments, we can take away the self-satisfaction in knowing that we did our best for the students, school and community, and that positive experience is something we can really use as contributing adult members of society.

They came out in force!  Students from each grade level turned out to march in the parade, the final competitive event during the homecoming season.  Classes were decked out in class t-shirts, props, banners and floats!  The court, principal and grand marshal all hitched a ride on a trolley, something new this year!  Guests from complex area schools, Moanalua, Red Hill and Salt Lake Elementary Schools joined the fun!  Finally, our own outstanding cheerleaders, AFJROTC cadets, and of course, the BIG BLUE Menehune Marching Band and Color Guard truly made it a parade!

Thursday

9/17: DAY PEP RALLY HONORS THE FOOTBALL TEAM AND COURT!

Homecoming Day Pep Rally is here!  Band, cheerleaders, court introductions, football team message, song contest, volleyball finals!  Yes, all of this took place in just an hour!  In an action packed assembly, excitement was in the air as classes battled to win two of the seven main events:  Song and Sports.  While the song contest results will not be announced until halftime of the Homecoming Game, the results of the volleyball tournament were obvious.  The Sophomores defeated the Freshmen 23-4 to claim third place while the Juniors surprised the Seniors, 16-11 to take the championship!  The only event left is the parade.  Good luck to ALL the classes!

That's right, a BANNER day!  Every class did an outstanding job, and judges had a very difficult time rating each one.  Some had movement, one had lights, and all stuck to the theme well.  Thank you to all the class advisors and their banner committees!  Good luck to all classes!  Results will be announced at halftime of the homecoming game!

9/15: LET'S ALL CHEER!

Tuesday of Homecoming Week is always Cheer Competition Day!  On this day, each class gives a prepared one-minute cheer that contains class unity, creativity and incorporation of the theme.  Each class is also to have at least 10% of the class participating and this year, no class seemed to have that as a problem.  Good luck to all classes....results to be announced at the Homecoming game!
