LEADERSHIP: IT'S NOT ABOUT REWARDS; IT'S DOING WHAT IS RIGHT EVEN IF NO ONE ELSE ACKNOWLEDGES YOU!

2022 MOANALUA HIGH SCHOOL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE (above) The Moanalua High School Executive Council is made up of fifteen volunteers. VOLUNTEERS! While officers are elected, they choose to run knowing that if they win, there is no physical reward, no letter grade, no incentive other than the pure satisfaction of doing a good job and representing the student body. At times, we achieve great success while at other times, we achieve somewhat less, but it is always a learning process. While we can take away much satisfaction from doing a good job, we can also learn from mistakes and try to better ourselves the next time. And so, at the end of our terms, while we do not earn a credit, a letter grade or even a certificate of achievement proving our accomplishments, we can take away the self-satisfaction in knowing that we did our best for the students, school and community, and that positive experience is something we can really use as contributing adult members of society.

8/28: CDISC GETS THE INSIDE SCOOP ON I.M.

Once again, the annual Central District Intermediate Student Council (CDISC) visited Moanalua for training in a meeting strategy known as the Interactive Method (IM).  Moanalua officers Jessica Luong, Mark Meno, Kiara Vicens and Lisa Nakamura spent a couple of hours going over details of IM but also running a couple of ice breakers as well.  We hope that the student leaders from the six schools in attendance (Aiea, Aliamanu, Mililani, Moanalua, Wahiawa, and Wheeler) will be able to use what they learned in their student council meetings.  But most of all, we hope that they had fun as well!  Thank you to all the advisors who took time out to bring their students for training!

We call this meeting to order!

What a physical ice breaker!

8/25: FALL RALLY GOES ON DESPITE WEATHER!

Despite humid conditions and a sudden downpour just before the start, the Fall Rally managed to inform and entertain!  The seven fall sports introduced themselves to the crowd (football is honored at Homecoming), Principal Martin honored non athletic groups, and even a class competition stirred up competitive juices.  Many thanks to everyone who were on their best behavior and were very attentive even though the gym felt like a sauna.  Special thanks also to the band who managed to squeeze themselves into the wrestling room area.  The music was great and much appreciated!

8/20: IT'S OPEN HOUSE TIME!

It seems like only yesterday that we were volunteering to serve as guides for parents searching for their children's classes.  But here it is again....OPEN HOUSE!  The weather was hot, damp and muggy, but we cheerfully greeted and helped as many parents as we could.  Thank you to all the teachers who did come out to meet and greet the many curious parents because, after all, it is their children who are the reason teachers are needed!

Let's get ready to guide!

8/4: WELCOME BACK FROM PHINEAS AND FERB!

Can you believe it's back to school already?  Well, ready or not, school is here and to kick it off, the SA officers, class officers, SA committee chairs and friends got together to put on the annual Welcome Back skit.  This year's skit was a take off on Phineas and Ferb, and how their pet platypus Perry is stolen by Dr. Doofenschmirtz.  They take a journey to try to rescue Perry and along the way meet people such as the SA officers, club members, athletes, and others who can help save Perry.  Of course, in the end, Perry is saved thanks to all the school groups, and everyone in the crowd is asked to get involved as well!  Thank you to the entire cast of 55 as well as the cheerleaders for coming in during the summer for rehearsals!
