LEADERSHIP: IT'S NOT ABOUT REWARDS; IT'S DOING WHAT IS RIGHT EVEN IF NO ONE ELSE ACKNOWLEDGES YOU!

2022 MOANALUA HIGH SCHOOL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE (above) The Moanalua High School Executive Council is made up of fifteen volunteers. VOLUNTEERS! While officers are elected, they choose to run knowing that if they win, there is no physical reward, no letter grade, no incentive other than the pure satisfaction of doing a good job and representing the student body. At times, we achieve great success while at other times, we achieve somewhat less, but it is always a learning process. While we can take away much satisfaction from doing a good job, we can also learn from mistakes and try to better ourselves the next time. And so, at the end of our terms, while we do not earn a credit, a letter grade or even a certificate of achievement proving our accomplishments, we can take away the self-satisfaction in knowing that we did our best for the students, school and community, and that positive experience is something we can really use as contributing adult members of society.

Friday

12/14: LUNCH AT TSUKIJI'S!

Lunch was great; Ryan packed it away!  Secret gifts were
also "interesting," including some....unmentionables!
Now, off to shopping we go!
This year's annual SA Dinner was....LUNCH!  For the past several years, the officers celebrated the holiday season at a Saturday evening dinner which often posed a problem.....getting into town with heavy traffic from holiday shoppers.  So, this year, it was lunch on a Friday exam make-up day.  While traffic was not much of a problem, transportation to Ala Moana was.  Maybe another thought for next year?  Anyway, almost everyone made it and enjoyed Tsukiji Fishmarket's sumptuous buffet and the secret gifts.  Happy Holidays to all, and see you in 2013!

12/13: WINTER FANTASY HELPS BRING CHEER TO SUSAN G. KOMEN FOUNDATION!

Students start trickling in at 5:00 to check-in.
Of course, the first place to head is the photography area!
The pink and silver Komen theme was different from the usual holiday decorations!
Chairperson and MC Dani Hipol keeps things running smoothly!
The annual Winter Fantasy at Pacific Beach Hotel was once again a memorable, well run event.  Thanks go out to advisor Ms. Mizue and also Ms. Arakawa and Ms. Koyanagi, and special thanks to head chairperson Dani Hipol and her entire committee.  Not only did these people coordinate the event but also came to the hotel hours before the start to set-up and make sure everyhting was in place.  And of course, thank you to all the administrators and staff chaperones and their guests for making sure the event went off without a hitch.  This year's charity was the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the committee also decided to decorate in pink using the foundation's logos.

12/7: HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

As the first semester comes to an end, the Moanalua High School Student Association officers would like to extend a happy holiday wish to all!  As part of our annual celebration, we tried to present each staff member with a holiday card today.  While some were not in their classrooms or offices, we were able to greet most.
